It is advisable to follow the following measures to avoid improper use of the idCAT Certificate:

Protect the idCAT Certificate with a PIN

Protecting the certificate with a PIN means that every time you want to use it, the system will ask for a PIN. To do this, during the installation wizard of the idCAT Certificate , you have the option to enable the secure protection of the private key as shown in the following image:

You must do this every time you install the idCAT Certificate on a new device.

You will not be able to recover this PIN, as it is a code between you and your computer. You must enter a code that is secure enough that no one can figure it out, but that is easy for you to remember.

Do not download or use the certified idCAT in a booth

The idCAT certificate is a tool that allows you to carry out procedures as a citizen, if you download it or use it at a booth anyone could impersonate you, and the legal consequences of this action would correspond to the holder of the certificate.

If you do, make sure to delete it from your computer after you stop using it .

Do not let someone else use your idCAT Certificate
The digital certificate is personal and non-transferable. Leaving it to a third party (for example, a manager) implies that he is acting on your behalf (that is, impersonating you) when he uses your idCAT Certificate and, therefore, the legal consequences arising from the its actions rest with the holder of the certificate (that is, you).

Therefore, it is important that you are careful and do not let anyone use it.
