To be able to renew the certificate, you must take into account:

  • With the renewal of the certificate you will obtain a new idCAT Certificate file that you will have to install again on your devices.
  • Online renewal can only be done from a computer.
  • You must have the certificate installed in the browser where you will renew.
  • The certificate must be in the renewal period, that is, within 60 days of its expiration (the idCAT certificate has a duration of 4 years). If it has expired, you cannot renew it online, you can only get a new one in person.
  • You will be able to use the old certificate until it expires even if you already have a new one.
  • It can only be renewed online once every 5 years *.

*According to the General Certification Policy , if more than five years have passed since the last time the holder identified themselves in person at a Registration Entity office, they will have to appear again in person to carry out the renewal. For this reason, the online renewal process will only be possible once every 5 years.

You can renew online or in person at an idCAT Certified Registration Entity.
